I like how you did it because it also works for the classic trek movie Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan which Star Trek - Into Darkness flipped. Same scenario flipped. Originally Spock saved the ship - but he died.
I may have never watched a single episode of Star Trek, and I may have only known him as Galvatron from The Transformers: The Movie, Sentinel Prime from Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the Atlantis King from Atlantis: The Lost Empire. But any death is tragic and this is no exception.
Rest in peace, Leonard Nimoy. A brilliant actor and an even more brilliant person.
"AJ... Why? ..." "Because you wouldnt believe what I've seen..." "... And you think that was the best option?" "Its the only one that I had." "It wasnt... there's always a second chance..." "Not for this pony that's for sure..."
[I have on idea why but thats what I thought when I first saw it.]
I've actually been wholly okay with the new ST. It's take too long to list all the reasons why off hand, but one of them is definitely the need to look at it this way: it certainly could've been a whole lot worse.
You have a very valid point. I guess I just still feel squiggy about the death of Vulcan. Still, the elements from old episodes and movies that they've incorporated have certainly made for so great Nerd-outs.
